Palm Handheld Goodies!
On this page I will be collecting the various utilities,
databases, and documents that I've created for the Palm.
Currently, the list is very sparse. I have quite a bit of stuff
that I'm working on, and it will be posted here when it's ready
for mass consumption.
TinyBytes
Have you heard of
ThinkDB? It's an
amazing relational database system for the Palm, created by
thinkingBytes Technologies. Databases for ThinkDB
are called TinyBytes, and what I have created and collected here are some TinyBytes that might
be useful to the Dungeons & Dragons community.
- 3rd Edition Spells (549 KB)
-
This is a database of the entire spell listing of the
Open Gaming Foundation
system reference document.
It is rather large, and some of the spell description formatting could use a bit of work.
But it is useful, searchable, and downright cool!
Note: If anybody out there has a snippet of Perl code that can easily transform those
HTML descriptions into a good Palm memo format, please share! Currently I'm just
stripping out the HTML tags, which is a bit messy in some places.
Other Applications
This is a collection of databases and documents for other great Palm applications.
- 3rd Edition Spells for
Pilot-DB (551 KB)
-
A while back I stopped using ThinkDB and switched to Pilot-DB, which is an open-source GPLed
database for the Palm. This database is identical to the database above, but for Pilot-DB
instead. It is entirely likely that I will not create any new TinyBytes, so you better
enjoy this.
- D20 Weather Effects (2 KB)
-
This is a handy document in DOC format. You will need a DOC
reader to use this, such as TealDoc or Quickword. The
information was taken from the
Waterdeep Weather
article on the WotC site.
- NPC Database (coming soon!)
-
This is a really cool thing that is nearly done. It's a free online database that DMs can
easily link into their campaign homepages, or just use as a standalone page. It's a great
reference tool that lets you and your players keep track of NPCs, their descriptions,
locations, and other great prizes. It's usable with any gaming system!
Right now I'm working on some finishing touches, and soon you will be able to sync the
online database with your Palm device, after a fashion. If there are any interested beta
testers out there, please drop me an e-mail and we'll
chat.
